Seth Poynter Memorial Award
Award Amount: $1,000
Description
This award is given in memory of Seth Poynter, BHS ’09, MHS ’11. Seth was an excellent student and wonderful, caring person. If you talk to his classmates, you’ll hear he was a vital source of encouragement, humor and charisma. Always in the back of the class, his energy and genuine curiosity about speech and language radiated forward and was readily apparent to everyone in the room. Never hiding in the back, Seth was leading from the back – vaulting questions forward to keep everyone thinking and involved with the content.
As a clinician, he thrived on translating academic knowledge into real-life practice, and as a fellow student, he was known for being able to explain concepts in an inventive way that did not make others feel somehow lacking or incapable. While at Mizzou, Seth was very involved with STRIPES, a program that offers safe rides to students late at night. Learn more about STRIPES at stripes.missouri.edu. Seth was truly a bright spot on campus. He made an indelible impression on us all.
