Established in 2014, MIZ-OUT is a group that aims to create a welcoming and safe environment and advocates for sexual and gender minorities within the University of Missouri community. Members hope to successfully fulfill their mission of aiding the recruitment and retention of LGBTQ+ faculty and staff by creating opportunities to connect with each other across campus. MIZ-OUT meets on a monthly basis and has been supported and encouraged by the Chancellor’s Diversity Initiative since its inception three years ago. Rose Hayden, MIZ-OUT President, says that the organization aims to create a place to connect and network. “It is important for the University to support groups that are dignifying of all people.” Current or retired members of faculty or staff at the University of Missouri are eligible for membership in MIZ-OUT. If interested, please contact Rose Hayden.
