Tranisha Smith is a junior hailing from Kansas City, Mo., and is majoring in health science. She plans to continue her education to earn a master’s degree in athletic training.

Tranisha is involved in many organizations. She is a member of The Black Programing Committee, an organization that sponsors and provides events for minority students. She is co-director of Tigers in the Gym, a program for health professions students to assist with physical education classes at Columbia’s Douglass High School. She is also a First Generation Student Association mentor.

“I feel as though being a part of these diverse organizations can ultimately maximize my experience at Mizzou by making the campus seem smaller and more personable,” Tranisha says. “In my free time, I enjoy playing basketball at the rec and hanging with my friends”
