Megan Maetten is from Lake St. Louis, Missouri. She is a Pre-Pharmacy Early Assurance student and plans to attend UMKC’s satellite campus in Columbia for her Pharm.D.

“A pharmacist plays an integral role in the health care system. The profession consistently grows, evolving new specialties and breakthrough research,” Megan says. “As a student hoping to make a positive impact on a team of health professionals, pharmacy appealed to me in the sense that my knowledge will never stay stagnant and there will always be new ideas to learn.”

In addition to being a student ambassador, Megan has been involved in campus organizations such as Greek Life, MizzouThon, Fighting Pretty, and the Pre-Pharmacy Club. In her free time, Megan enjoys grabbing frozen yogurt with her friends at Yogoluv or volunteering at the Ronald McDonald House of Mid-Missouri.

What made you choose Mizzou?

I chose Mizzou based on the fact that it is an enthusiastic campus full of opportunity. Additionally, it is a medium distance from home, which was another driving force in my decision.

What made you apply to be an SHP Student Ambassador?

I enjoyed feeling personally welcomed by the ambassadors and wanted to give back to future tigers. I want prospective Health Professions students to be aware of everything Mizzou has to offer!
