Larissa Laderach is a freshman from Kearney, Mo. She is a pre-clinical laboratory science and plans to attend graduate school to earn a master’s in microbiology. She wants to work in a hospital laboratory, and eventually hopes to work for the Centers of Disease Control and Prevention.
“I think new students should get involved and have an open mind,” Larissa says. “Try something new and interesting you’ve never done before. There are many academic and social groups to join on campus. You’ll get to meet new people. Make friends and make connections for the future. Even if you only join or do one thing, the most important aspect is to give it everything you’ve got while still making time for classes and yourself.”
When did you know Mizzou was “the one”?
I knew Mizzou was “the one” when I went to other college visits and I could not stop comparing them to Mizzou. I felt so welcomed by everyone I met. Everything just instantly had me captured.
Why did you choose your major?
I chose clinical laboratory science because I love running tests, seeing the results, and determining why some results may come back unusual.
Why should students choose Mizzou?
Being in a place where you know you’re getting an amazing education, being surrounded by lifelong friends, and having people around you that care about you and your future makes Mizzou genuinely feel special.
