Ashlan Lock is a senior from Carrollton, Missouri. She is a health science major with a minor in business and plans to pursue a graduate degree in health care administration. Ashlan’s career goal is to manage a major health care facility such as a hospital or rehabilitation clinic.
“I would encourage freshmen to take advantage of the skills and knowledge of their peers” Ashlan says. “Being in college is such a unique experience, and you can learn so much from the people around you.”
In addition to serving as a School of Health Professions student ambassador, Ashlan is a member of Kappa Alpha Theta sorority and Mizzou Alternative Breaks. In her free time, she enjoys listening to music and exploring Columbia with her friends.
What’s been your favorite Mizzou moment?
Tiger Walk during my freshman year! After spending the morning finding out what sorority I was going to join, I spent the evening walking the quad with my new friends I had made from my dorm floor!
Why did you choose your major?
I have always been fascinated by the administrative side of health care and the way it works in the United States. I chose it as my major because it is complex, unique, and incorporates aspects of health, people and management.
Why should students choose Mizzou?
Besides the beautiful campus and atmosphere in Columbia, Mizzou is an amazing institution that fosters both tradition and innovation. You will always feel at home no matter what you’re doing at Mizzou.
