Lynelle Phillips Receives Grant for Immunization Case Studies

Earlier this year, Lynelle Phillips, Instructor and Field Placement Coordinator for the MU Master of Public Health Program, was awarded a $30,000 grant from the Center for Disease Control and the Association of Prevention Teaching and Research. The grant was for undergraduate nursing students to write five immunization case studies, and was completed by the team in July. The short time frame is common for projects of this nature, according to Phillips. “It is not uncommon to have these types of small rapid-fire grants in public health. We took a unique approach in that the case studies were public health-focused (rather than one on one patient encounter scenarios) and included digital stories to frame and personalize the case studies.” The project had many contributors, including Lise Saffran, who led the digital storytelling team.
