Two Undergraduate Students Present Their Research

Each year undergraduate students are invited to apply to present their research abstracts on a variety of categories at the Undergraduate Research Spring Forum in the Bond Life Sciences Center. This year, health sciences student Madison Green was invited to present after submitting her work titled: Tracking the re-emergence of measles in the United States using publicly available data. Green used data from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention as well as the U.S. Census Bureau in order to calculate the incidence proportion of measles in the United States between 1995 and 2018. Overall, the incidence and incidence proportion of measles have increased since measles was declared eradicated. "I found this to be an alarming turn of events, inspiring me to delve deeper into the recent history of the disease," Green says.
