Why did you become a Certified Health Education Specialist? I majored in Health Science with a pre-Medicine concentration. After several Health Education courses, I decided to pursue a Health Education path. Becoming a Certified Health Education Specialist was a way to summarize what I had learned in school.
What does your CHES certification mean to you? My CHES certification gives me confidence in my ability to apply the CHES competencies. It pushes me to engage in continuing education. It also helps me to connect with other individuals in the public health field who are CHES certified.
What does your CHES certification mean to your employer? My CHES certification tells my employer that I have the skills and knowledge necessary to do my job. As a person who hires health educators, I am always looking for someone who is CHES certified.
