David DC ColtWelcome to the Athletic Training Program at the University of Missouri! I’m happy to know that you have an interest in the profession of athletic training and our program. We earned our initial accreditation from the Commission on Accreditation of Athletic Training Education (CAATE) as an undergraduate professional program in April, 2016.

We are proud to be a program in the School of Health Professions and the Department of Physical Therapy where the Athletic Training Program is considered as a peer among highly regarded and accredited health professions programs. Our position in the School of Health Professions provides our program with the privilege of being able to offer an excellent interprofessional education with a broad experience for our students. Additionally, our affiliation with MU Health Care allows for our students to learn alongside students who are in medicine, physical therapy, occupational therapy, medical residency, orthopedic fellowships, among others.

Three full time and one part time faculty members, with a combined 65 plus years of experience in the field of athletic training, serve as the core faculty of our program. We utilize a number of well-respected adjunct professors who round out our excellent faculty. Clinical athletic training experiences are available with 18 Division I intercollegiate athletic teams at Mizzou, Mizzou club sports and intramurals, Division II Lincoln University, local high schools and our Mizzou Team Physicians. During the clinical experiences, we utilize very highly regarded physicians, athletic trainers, physical therapists, occupational therapists, trauma physicians, EMTs, paramedics and emergency room personnel from Columbia and Jefferson City who serve as preceptors to our students. Visit our Clinical Education page for more information.

I welcome your interest in our program. Feel free to browse our website for more specific information about our excellent program. If you have any questions, please contact me at coltd@health.missouri.edu or call 573-884-5121.

Go Tigers!
