Kennedy Reeder is a health science major, rehabilitation science emphasis, from St. Louis. After graduation, she plans to move to Dallas, Texas to pursue chiropractic school.

Kennedy’s advice for new students is to step out of their comfort zone.

“You have to put yourself in uncomfortable situations in order to grow,” she says. “Whether that means joining a new organization or simply going out to meet new friends, just do it. At first, it may feel unsettling but, in the end, you’ll be surprised at how much you’ve evolved and the connections you’ve made.”

In addition to serving on the School of Health Professions Student Ambassador Leadership Team, Kennedy is a peer mentor for the Department of Health Sciences and the president of Minorities in Sports.

What made you choose Mizzou?

I chose Mizzou because of its affordability and proximity to my hometown. I also chose Mizzou because of the number of resources they provide to help students succeed.

What should make students choose Mizzou?

Students should choose Mizzou because there is a lot of academic assistance on campus that will provide them with the resources to be successful. There is a variety of clubs and organizations to be a part of that will help you find your place on campus. Lastly, there are plenty of majors and minors to choose from and multiple ranked programs, meaning you are getting a quality education.

How did you choose your major?

I chose my major by doing a lot of research on the majors that Mizzou offered. I found that being a health science major would put me in a position to be able to further my studies in graduate school. I chose an emphasis in rehabilitation science because it would best prepare me for PT school. This major also allows me to take interesting courses to further expand my knowledge of healthcare.

What has been your favorite Mizzou memory?

My favorite Mizzou memory has been putting on the event called ClueN2, which was for underrepresented admitted high school seniors.

If you could re-live one Mizzou sports memory, what would it be and why?

If I could re-live one Mizzou sports memory it would be my freshman year homecoming game as it was my first time attending a college football game!
