Last month, Tommy Thomas, SHP’s Diversity Initiatives Coordinator, attended the Annual Biomedical Research Conference for Minority Students (ABRCMS) in Anaheim, Calif. as a representative for Mizzou and SHP.

ABRCMS is one of the largest communities of underrepresented minorities in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics. Students from all over the country and have the opportunity to present their research, network, and connect with graduate/professional schools nationwide.

Thomas along with the rest of Team Mizzou worked to recruit undergraduate students for our graduate and professional programs. In addition to SHP, Team Mizzou was comprised of reps from Life Sciences, Engineering, Graduate School, Health Professions, Medical School, Veterinary Science, McNair Scholars, Animal Sciences, Biological Sciences and Biochemistry.

“Team Mizzou had the opportunity to meet with more than 500 students about our programs,” Thomas said. “I spoke to a number of students about our health programs and had great results with lots of student interest.”

Thank you for representing SHP, Tommy!
