The School of Health Professions Office of Career Service and Office of Recruitment are excited to welcome a new staff member. Justin Shock will begin work with us on Monday, Oct. 7. In an innovative partnership, Career Services and Recruitment will share Justin’s time and he will split his hours evenly among the two offices. Justin will replace the graduate assistant position previously utilized by both offices.
Justin, who is from Gideon, Mo. near Cape Girardeau, is a May 2019 Mizzou biology graduate, but he has ties to SHP where his sister is a sophomore health science major. During his time at Mizzou, Justin worked for the State Historical Society of Missouri, was a member of the Office of Admissions Outreach student ambassador team, was a leader of his fraternity, and active in the Tigers Together policy program and Mizzou for Malawi.
Among his duties in Career Services, Justin will meet with SHP students to discuss their resumes, personal statements, and prepare for interviews. He also will coordinate the office’s Tuesday evening workshops and assist with the Career Fair.
In the Office of Recruitment, among other duties, Justin will assist with the management of the Student Ambassador Leadership Team, meet with prospective student families, attend recruitment events, and coordinate the annual SHP student-led Service Days.
Justin’s passionate enthusiasm for the University of Missouri is infectious, and through attendance at one of our Summer Welcome Family and Friends Forums during his sister’s Summer Welcome, he learned how our school serves students. We think he will be a valuable member of both our teams. We encourage you to reach out to Justin through his current student email and welcome him to the School of Health Professions! We also welcome your sharing of this information with your colleagues as you see fit.
