The SHP Excellence in Education Award honors faculty members who have demonstrated superlative commitment to the teaching mission, and may recognize efforts spanning a broad range of activities including traditional instruction, advising, mentoring, training and outreach activities.
The Early Career Category recipient, Keith Belmore, is both Assistant Teaching Professor and Clinical Education Coordinator. His students rave about his use of engaging learning activities in the classroom – collaborative problem-based learning experiences like case studies and simulations. He is a proponent of technology in the classroom and uses a variety of tools to help create dynamic learning environments that boost skill acquisition, critical thinking, communication and teamwork. As a champion of interprofessional education, he has developed a clinical rotation that places students with providers in a variety of disciplines to help develop a strong appreciation for interprofessional practice.
