The Department of Physical Therapy is seeking adults 50+ with chronic low back pain to participate in a study to investigate the use of walking poles. Chronic low back pain is defined as pain experienced most days for the past three months or longer that makes it difficult to perform daily activities.
Participants attend 12 classes in May and June 2018 to learn and practice using walking poles. Classes are led by a certified exercise expert for the aging adult, physical therapist. Persons will not be eligible if they use a walker, or had surgery 6 months prior to the start of classes.
