SHP OT at the 2017 AOTA Educational Summit

Last week, SHP OT was well represented at the American Occupational Therapy Association’s (AOTA) 2017 Educational Summit in Fort Worth, Texas. This two-day conference focuses on new initiatives in OT, such as early intervening services and response to intervention. Six SHP faculty members were in attendance at the event, most of whom were given the opportunity to formally present their findings to other researchers and educators.

Dr. Bill Janes, Assistant Research Professor, and Academic Fieldwork Coordinator presented his poster on online journal clubs for fieldwork educator competency.

Associate Department Chair Dr. Crystal Gateley presented “Lessons Learned From a Unique Interdisciplinary Faculty Development Experience and Applications for Occupational Therapy Educators.”

Tiffany Bolton, Assistant Clinical Professor, presented her poster on an active learning approach to teaching in OT education. Assistant Clinical Professor Whitney Henderson presented her poster on instructional methods for clinical reasoning.

Also in attendance at the conference were Department Chair Dr. Tim Wolf and Assistant Clinical Professor Gina Christensen Pifer.
