This week, the National Student Speech Language Hearing Association (NSSLHA) Executive Council informed SHP’s chapter of the organization that they have been awarded Gold Chapter Honors.
Cultivating community education and dialogue through increasing social media posts helped SHP’s chapter of the National Student Speech Language and Hearing Association earn Gold Chapter Honors. By achieving this distinction, the chapter has shared the gift of leadership, while demonstrating that the future of the profession is filled with strong leaders committed to serving and advocating for their clients.
According to the National NSSLHA Executive Council, the Chapter’s efforts have helped to:
- Increase awareness of communication disorders among state and federal legislators
- Support clients, students, and organizations in the local community
- Create vibrant online conversations in the NSSLHA Community
- Provide scholarships to students in CSD programs by contributing a donation of more than $11,500 to the ASH Foundation NSSLHA Scholarship Bring speech and language communication resources to those who are served by CommunicAID + Nation (the NSSLHA Loves 2016-2017 recipient) by helping to raise more than $13,000
The Chapter’s efforts will be acknowledged with a Recognition Ribbon, presented at the NSSLHA Honors Awards Ceremony Convention in Los Angeles later this year. The chapter’s accomplishment will also be publicized to other organization members via email, newsletter, and website form.
